Who is the Greatest?

The votes have been counted and verified, and we can reveal the results. After a whole term researching influential people, culminting in speeches and debate, our class have voted for the greatest and most influential people of all time. Our top 10 include two people who are still alive, two politicians, a princess, two authors, a musician, an inventor, and several people famous for improving the lives of others.

Our Visit to Eden Camp!

dscf1402.JPGdscf1401.JPGOn Wednesday 12th September the whole of 5/6 went on a trip to Eden Camp, Malton, North Yorkshire.

We learnt a lot of things, including that Eden Camp was actually an Prisoner of War Camp! During the war Eden Camp was used as a place to keep the Axis’ soldiers that we had captured.

The Camp had lots of wooden huts that the POW’s slept in and they have transformed the huts from beds into stacks of information!

Overall we had lots of fun and we bought some things from the shops. I would recommend this museum for a good day out with the family!

Our Day trip – Roman Lincoln

On Monday 11th June our class travelled back in time to Lindum Colonia (Lincoln). We visited the Bailgate and the remains of buildings that were built over 2,000 years ago. When we arrived a man dressed in Roman costume greeted us in Latin. He was dressed in a white tunic with a beige toga.He then took us on a tour around the Bailgate. On the tour the Roman man talked about the food that the Romans ate like: Roasted doormouse and small birds.

Then he took us for a tour around the remains of Lindum Colonia. Most of them were old walls that have been standing for years. We saw the main entrances to the city, the remains of the Forum and the Roman well.

In the afternoon the Roman man (Aurelius Senico) had gone and we went off in our own groups and made lots of sketches of the Roman remains and took notes for this review. At 2:00 we took a safe journey back to Fosse Way.

Roman Shields

Our class has been making Roman Shields so at the end of term we can make different formations with them. e.g.the tortoise. As well we will have a fight but obviously we won’t hurt each other.

Each class has a colour and our colour is orange. (It would have to be our colour wouldn’t it) Each colour represents a team they are in.

Here are some photos of the shields so far: hannah-and-abigail.jpg   eve1.jpg     lewis1.jpg

We will make sure you’ll know what the end product looks like and how the fight ends!!!!!
